“Let Love Reign” by Erica Andreuccetti

In August 2016, my husband and I lost our daughter, Mila Reign, to meningitis caused by Group B Strep (GBS) bacteria. She was five weeks old and put up a strong fight in the PICU of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). During our time there, the medical staff was absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to not only care for our daughter, but to care for us as well.

To give back, my husband and I decided to host a Christmas Eve dinner for the families with children in the NICU and PICU over the holidays, as well as for the medical staff who sacrifice time with their loved ones to care for these children and their families. That year on Christmas Eve night, we took over the waiting room and served the families and staff an abundance of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, drinks, and various desserts. Everyone was so thankful and appreciative. We even brought all the children little Christmas gifts – that year it was a crocheted angel. That first dinner went so well that we decided to make it an annual event. This holiday season will mark our fourth year hosting the MUSC Christmas Dinner in honor of our daughter, Mila.

Each year to raise funds for all the food, serving supplies and gifts for the babies, we sell shirts with our campaign slogan, “Let Love Reign” (Reign was our daughter’s middle name). All proceeds from these sales are put toward the dinner and gifts.

To purchase a shirt and help raise NICU and GBS awareness, you can visit our online shop at https://www.bonfire.com/store/let-love-reign/,where you’ll have your choice between our most recent campaign designs or any of the designs from previous years.
